Just because a tattoo is visible - doesn’t mean you have to comment on it.
It never fails that if I’m wearing an outfit that exposes my forearm (GASP!) someone in my office will feel the need to call my attention to it.
Here’s what it always sounds like:
Yes, that’s a real tattoo. No, it didn’t hurt. I can’t believe I have one either. No, it’s not Spanish. Not Italian either. I’d prefer not to tell you what it says. It’s Latin. No, it really didn’t hurt. I have no idea if it would hurt there. I don’t like needles either but it’s a necessary evil with this sort of thing. No, I’m still not telling you what it says.
Ugh. I get that people are curious about tattoos, but if someone has their nose pierced, I don’t walk up and play twenty questions about it. It’s a personal choice, not a discussion piece. Show some self-restraint. Please and thanks.
